Tamaki PIPC in the season of Covid-19, Level 4 alert

 Kia ora te whanau!  Greetings to our church in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

The season we are in is one many if not any have NEVER experienced.  Where we could roam, have choice whether to go or not, take part or stay away from are no longer choices we make.  Due to the Corona Virus we have been restricted to the comforts of our homes.   Things we take for granted we may be just realising the importance of - their significance in our lives.

Some homes across New Zealand have found this a daunting time.  Others have found it frustrating and many lonely.   Greater still many have shared their gratitude for this time to simply reconnect, realign and structure households in ways that some had left behind and some yet to experience due to life's busyness.  Mums and dads are less distracted and retraining the mind, hearts AND ears to tune into the voices of their children.  Many have expressed their gratitude also for this being a time to simply rest in the care and company of loved ones.

Many have missed the normality of attending church for practices, groups and services.   In place of this we have meet the last three Sunday's via our Facebook - live.



We kick off our live meetings at 9.30am with Sunday School Superintendent Rasalama at 9.30am for Sunday School, Sing-along with Parish adminstrator/teacher and musician Aloema Fainuu, 10am with Reverend Elama Maea for our morning service. 

For Sunday School we have provided resources and in the form of video links and discussion points for families to interact with, available at 9am that morning before our live meets at 9.30am.



Daily our young people from Bible Class are posting Bible readings along with a daily challenge and song for families.   God bless you BC!

An impressive stat - we have had up to 63 households tune into these morning sessions.  More than the live bodies in attendance most Sunday mornings!  Praise God! God willing after we this season we're in of lockdown we will be seeing many more people face to face!

Suit up Service - August 2014

Grades 7 & 8 presented a service titled 'Suit up'. It was based upon the Armour of God found in Ephesians 6. It was a wonderful service that saw many confident students take a step forward and out for Jesus. The items were impressive with the high standard of acting, costume and props. We were reminded how the Armour of God we must suit up with daily. It's through this 'suiting up' that we can truly withstand the challenges we face in our daily paths. Harvest Sunday - Spring time@Tamaki

Tamaki of old saw this annual event through the years. Church stage heavy laden with the first fruits from families to bless those in need with. This Sunday the Sunday School revived this old activity and turned it into one big fun day. Everyone was dressed up as farmers and had a ton of fun playing many neat games in the church hall. Thanks to all our families who contributed to this Harvest Sunday. Next year the entire parish will be invited to take part and no doubt we'll have a number of groups/people to bless it with in the GI community. God bless Farmers!

Fun Day this Sunday! Harvest Day! Please come dressed as Farmers for Sunday School. Bring 1 item of grocery which will be collected and donated to those in need of this type of blessing. 1 item of grocery can be anything from canned foods, small bag of fruit or veges, loaf of bread….pretty much anything. Look forward to seeing you all there bright and early ready to have a great time together. God bless - your Sunday School Teachers!

Last week Grades 3 and 4 read the story about Jesus being found in the temple at the age of 12. As a class we discussed what this could mean for us and decided that SOMETIMES, age was just a number. We said sometimes, as there are just some things that our age restricts us from doing, such as driving. For some of us we often wouldn't volunteer to pray because we knew someone older than us would. We also talked about how sometimes we can be overlooked or ignored because of our age so we  looked at the first part of 1Timothy 4:12 by doing a scavenger hunt, learning the verse and putting actions to it to help us remember it. Here are grades 3 and 4 sharing with you the memory verse they learnt.

Papa's and Mama's

It's been a year of difference with the celebrating of Mama's and Papa's who have passed on to be with our Lord. We would like to pray a blessing upon all the children, grandchildren and families who have experienced the loss of a loved one this year. We know that it is a very sad and difficult time and we also know how even greater our Lord's comfort and peace is. We pray that you will grow in strength from day to day in our Lord. That you will have complete assurance in the love of our heavenly Father who is the keeper of all. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. Romans 14:8 If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. How awesome are these truths family! God's comfort and peace as only He can give be yours.

August Family Service

Grade 5 Olympics

In the spirit of the London Olympics 2012, Grade 5 joined in on the fun from the one and only Tamaki Arena, Glen Innes. Like in the actual Olympics, Grade 5 students had separate male and female events. These events included 100m sprints (won by Makayla), judo (Julia), discus (Canaan), gymnastics (Loia), basketball (Iavana), cycling (Hosannah) and boxing (Tui). Talofa and greetings everyone from the teachers retreat at Point England School...

Opened with fun and new activities to get the group started...already we are calling each other by their middle names....other cool ideas to help the kids, cross word, food treats, map out journey for the class, its great to share ideas and look at interesting ways of putting the same lesson across to our kids....

This is also my first time writing on our BLOG so feeling pretty happy to get the chance...

Its been an awesome day, thanx to the crew for first half of the day....now its lunch time...master chef Tatupu....

Grade 4

Greetings! We are the cool kids of Grade 4 and we are looking forward to another awesome year of Sunday School in 2012! Our teacher is Ray. Throughout the year we will be posting a lot of articles, stories and photos of our journey. Please make sure to leave some comments for us.

NZ Sunday School Union Scripture Examinations

NZ Sunday School Union Building, Queen St, Auckland.

Yes they're still around! They are still a vital part of New Zealand Sunday Schools. Bringing to the forefront many exciting and impacting stories from the Holy Bible. This year's exams were based on servants such as King Josiah, Queen Esther, Mordecai and the disciples - and the ultimate - Jesus. The story of creation was also part of this series. All these lessons teach and remind us of the awesome creation of God. SSU exams rock! It's an awesome way to study His word deeply and to build your understanding of why we stand in awe of Him.

Our Sunday School did extremely well with all our students and teachers passing. We also received 10 special placings!

As part of our preparation for the scripture union exams, the senior Sunday School and Bible Class carried out extra studies on the lessons. These activities were to help reinforce our learning as well as committing to memory God's days of creation. Check out the following movie.

CamParable Pathfinders

We have a fantastic series of parables that we've studied since the beginning of the year. With the Sunday School Exams drawing near, many of us have been visiting church for some extra coaching classes to help us prepare. If you recall our studies were kicked off well and truly by our CamParable. The parable we used as a base for all we did at camp - was that of the sower. So as you can imagine our groups named themselves accordingly. Red - 'Red Roots', Blue - 'Pathfinders', Green - 'Green Fertilisers' and yellow...can you help me remember please (leave in a comment).

At CamParable we were given the opportunity to complete an item that would be part of the Rally on Saturday evening. These were run by members of our open class(great to see young leadership in action). Four groups in total covered prayers, creative dances, skits and a singing or rap number. We've posted here the rap and song that was created and performed by our blue group - the 'Pathfinders'. You will hear a familiar tune accompanied by some original lyrics and dance moves.

We hope this little movie helps you with your preparations for the upcoming NZ Sunday School Union Scripture examinations.

Hopefully at the time of - Tam talent DVD release - we'll be able to have CamParable ready too.
